I am beyond excited to share with you that on Friday, November 22 – we received our authorization letter and certificate from the International Baccalaureate office in Geneva, Switzerland! We are now officially an IB World School, offering the Primary Years Programme!
In my previous post, I explained that there were 3 options after our authorization visit:
1. Authorization is granted and the school is informed in a letter from the IBO director general. Also, the school will receive a letter from the regional director, indicating the commendations and recommendations, based on the visiting team’s report.
2. Authorization is postponed if there are matters to attend to which involve significant changes, but it is obvious that the school is committed and has a specific plan in place to accommodate the deficiencies.
3. The school is not granted authorization to offer the Primary Years Programme.
I am pleased to say, that we fell into the very first category, where our authorization was granted and we had no, “matters to be addressed”. We received our report from the regional director, indicating the commendations and recommendations, based on the visiting team’s report, and so now, we move forward! We’ll put our recommendations into our Action Plan and continue on our journey to refining our practice in the Programme.
We’d like to thank EVERYONE for being so supportive as we endeavoured to become accredited. Students, parents, staff, Rocky View Schools, community members. We certainly could not have been as successful without the help of everyone along the way. It was 4 years of hard work, dedication and learning that brought us to where we are today – and it doesn’t stop now! We’ve only just begun! We look forward to continued engagement with all of our stakeholders moving forward! We are so proud of the entire school for putting their heart and soul into making the PYP a success at Prairie Waters!
Now, it’s time for CELEBRATION!
